Set Up:  

Three players are set up inside of the small grid. As Player 1 dribbles, Player 2 checks away and then comes back to the ball for a passing combination. After passing, Player 2 turns and checks away as Player 1 plays a long pass up to Player 3. Player 3 finishes the pattern with the thru pass to Player 2, who again checks back to the ball. The drill then re-starts back across the grid with Player 3 checking away from Player 2. Play continues back and forth across the grid in this pattern.

Coaching Points:

1.  Make runs away from the ball in order to create space for you to work back into.

2.  Communicate by making eye contact, but don’t telegraph the play.

3.  Get wide and out of the defender’s field of vision before checking back to the ball. 

Progressions: 

1.  Add one or more groups to the field.
