5v5 into 1v1 Game
5v5 into 1v1 Game
My Notes
Set Up:
The two teams play 5v5 inside of the central zone. To score, an attacker must dribble out of the zone and into a small field to go 1v1 with the neutral defender. The attacker can score in either of the two small goals. The defender starts on the side line and enters play as soon as the attacker leaves the central zone. Also, if the defender wins the ball in the 1v1, he can score in either goal. Games are played to five and the defenders switch out after each game.
Coaching Points:
1. Speed of Play – You may have to make two or three runs to get open in the 5v5.
2. Blind Side Runs – As the defenders contract into the middle, look for runs in behind them.
3. Communication – Talk to players returning to the zone so that they can defend immediately.
Progressions/Regressions:
Progression 1 – Play with neutral defenders on the small fields, and the teams can dribble out of either side of the central zone.
