Midfield Combinations
Flip the Triangles
Play begins with a pass into the player at the top of the small triangle. The 3 central players combine to send one of the outside players thru to the other side of the field. Upon completion, the players re-form the triangles and change direction.

Combine and Finish
Play begins with a pass to any of the three central midfielders. The central mids combine to send one of the outside midfielders thru to goal. After the finish, the players re-form their triangle and play re-starts in the other direction.

Time the thru run based on the quality of passing in the center.

CMs must anticipate play and get behind the ball.

Combinations have to be communicated early.
3v1 Into 1v1
Play begins with a pass into any of the three attackers in the central zone. From there, the attackers play 3v1 and combine to send a flank attacker into the zone to try and finish the 1v1. Upon completion, play re-starts in the opposite direction.

Get a touch on the thru pass as early as possible.
2v1 to 5v3 to 2v2
The players are 2v1 in the defending zone, 3v3 plus two in the central zone, and 1v2 in the attacking zone. Players starting in the end zones must stay in that zone during play. Any attacker in the central zone can cross over with the pass to create the 2v2.

Expand the space in all of the zones.

Look for the thru pass when play moves horizontally.

When the defenders chase, move the ball fast.
9v9, Free Play
Teams play on a field a bit smaller than a full field - penalty area width and one end line moved up to the edge of one penalty area. The length of the game is 30-40 minutes and play is continuous, meaning no stoppages by the coaching staff to instruct.
