Win the Ball Back #3 - U10
Win the Ball Back #3 - U10
Freeze Tag

Organization:
Area: 20y x 20y
The two players without a ball try to tag as many players as possible. When a player gets tagged, he/she ‘freezes’ and stands with the ball above their heads, feet wide apart. Frozen players are set free when another player passes a ball through their legs. The game is over when all of the players are tagged, or after a certain amount of time.
Variation: Play without soccer balls. Players must crawl between the legs of a frozen player to set them free.
Focus Points:
-
Enthusiasm and energy
-
Dribbling and turning technique
-
Passing technique
1v1 to 2v2

Organization:
Area: 20y x 18y
On a split field, place small goals on each end line. The players start next to their goals. On the coach’s signal, the two 1v1 games start at the same time, with the attacker dribbling onto the field. When a 1v1 has ended (a goal is scored, ball went over the endline), those two players join the other 1v1 and make it a 2v2 on that field. When the ball goes over the sideline, dribble or pass the ball back onto the field. After each turn, switch sides.
Game: Keep track of individual and team scores.
Focus Points:
1v1 attacking and defending skills
Transition:
After losing the ball try to win the ball back as quickly as possible.
After winning the ball try to score as quickly as possible. Go forward.
After your 1v1 ends immediately join your teammate in the other 1v1 to create a 2v2.
3v1, Keep Away

Organization:
Area: 10y x 10y
Three attackers try to keep possession versus one defender. They have unlimited touches. The defender tries to win the ball and dribble it out of the grid. When he does, another player becomes the defender. The attackers try to win the ball back before he gets out.
Variation: Limit the number of touches. When an attacker takes too many, they must leave the ball for the defender, who then tries to dribble out of the grid.
Focus Points:
- Attackers keeping ball possession.
- The defender attacking and wining the ball back at the right moment and getting out of the grid asap.
Attackers
- Keep the field as large as possible.
- Movement after passing the ball. Get open right away.
- Pass with the correct speed to the correct foot.
- Receive with the correct foot to be able to quickly move the ball to the open player.
- After losing the ball, win it back as quickly as possible. Reaction. Before the defender dribbles out of the grid.
Defender
- Be active and put pressure on the ball.
- Attack the ball at the right moment; when the opponent gives a bad pass, the receiver takes a bad touch, the ball goes through the air, or the receiver of the ball is standing in a corner.
- Don't run around without purpose.
- After winning the ball, explode and dribble quickly over the sideline.
3v3 Tournament

Organization:
Area: 20y x 15y
Teams play 3v3, with games lasting three minutes. When the ball goes out over the sideline or endline, dribble or pass it back in.
Game: Keep track of the wins. Three points for a win, one point for a tie, zero points for a loss. One point for each goal scored.

- Stay active as long as possible. (Back pressure)
5v5 Game

Organization:
Area: 40y x 25y
Two teams play 5v5 (4+GK), starting in 2-1-1 formation. When the ball goes out of bounds, restart with dribble or pass.
When working with multiple teams, rotate teams in and out when a goal is scored (winner stays on) or every couple of minutes.
Place the resting team on both sidelines with soccer balls, so they can bring in a ball quickly when they go out of bounds. This will keep the game tempo high.
Game: Keep track of the score.
Coaching Points:
-
When the opponent is in possession, make the field small.
-
When your own team is in possession, make the field large.
-
After losing the ball, try to win it back as quickly as possible.
-
After winning the ball try to go forward as quickly as possible to create a scoring chance. Ten Second Rule.
