Set Up:
There are 14 players set up in the attacking third, playing 2 v 1 in the two flank zones. The Feeder begins play with a pass into one of the flank zones, and all of the players release from the cones with the Feeder’s first touch. The attackers look to beat the defender for a cross and finish on goal, while the players in the zone without the ball make runs into the penalty area. If the defenders win the ball, they can score in the small goals set up outside of the penalty area. Upon completion, the Feeder re-starts the drill with the next set of players. The players should rotate to all of the positions during the course of play.
Coaching Points:
1. If the defender closes the distance quickly, fake the cross and play it backwards.
2. If you have the opportunity, cross the ball early in behind the defender.
3. Hold the finishing runs until the attacker takes his last dribble touch before crossing.
Progressions:
1. Add a 1 v 1 inside the penalty area.
