Set Up:
There are 10-12 players set up in the attacking third, starting with a 2v1 inside of the penalty area. During the drill, five attackers—each with a ball—dribble back and forth around the semi circle of cones set up outside of the penalty area. When the Coach calls an attacker’s number, he dribbles into the box to create a 2v2 to goal. If the defenders win the ball, they can score in the two small goals set up outside of the penalty area. After five minutes, three new players switch into the penalty area to form a new 2v1.
Coaching Points:
1. Commit the first defender with the dribble, pass off, and then run by.
2. If the attack stalls, use the Takeover/Heel pass combinations to create space.
3. Make positive first touches towards goal to create better shooting angles.
Progressions:
1. Allow attackers to shoot from outside of the penalty area.
