Set Up:

Each team starts with two players in the center of the field and four players stationed around the outside. At the beginning of play, one team is designated as the attacking team (the blue team in the diagram) and the other is the defending team. The two central players play one touch passes back and forth until the attacker takes the ball towards goal. When he makes that touch forward, all of the outside players can come onto the field. Play continues 5v5 to completion. After each ball, the teams switch attacking and defending roles but the players return to the same starting positions.

Coaching Points:

1.  Communication – Defenders must immediately sort out who is covering whom.

2.  Transition – Anticipate changes of possession before your opponent does and move first.

3.  Finishing – Attack at speed and make positive first touches at goal.

Progressions/Regressions:

Progression 1 – The 1st attacker can attack either goal at the start.
