#1 Pressures ball handler / #2 Marks second player and protects the danger area / #3 Pinches in to provide support for #1 and #2
If the ball handler gets past #1, #2 is in position to back up the play and begin pressing the ball handler
If pass made to #2, then defender #2 is in good position to press the new ball handler and #1 marks his man and protects the danger area. Defender #3 is now back up to defender #2 and protects the danger area.
Danger area = area in field where opponent can escape coverage and score.
