Organization:

Dynamic Warming up with a ball.

Rotation activity.

Equipment; balls, cones.

Put one cone on the 18 yards line. Set up a small box (1y x 1y) with cones in the center of the goal for the goalkeepers to step forward through. The goalie ‘on deck’ waits on the bottom of the box until the goalkeeper in front is gone. All goalkeepers start at the goal. The trainer passes or throws the ball to the goalkeeper from the penalty spot. The goalkeeper deals with the ball and rolls the ball back to the trainer. After the roll, the goalkeeper performs dynamic warm up movements towards the 18 yard line, goes around the cone and jogs back to the goal.

Variations:

  • The goalkeeper receives the ball with the left or right foot and passes the ball back.

  • The goalkeeper throws the ball back to the trainer.

  • The trainer passes the ball over the ground or at stomach height, towards the face with a volley, or throws a high ball towards the goalkeeper.

  • The trainer passes the ball to the left or right from the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper must fall to the left or the right and deal with the ball.

  • The trainer can move closer or further away from the goal.

Focus Points:

  • Step up and get into the correct starting position just before the shooter hits the ball.

  • Use the proper technique to deal with the ball.

  • Accurate distribution.

  • Proper execution of dynamic movements.

  • Make sure to use arms. Hands go from ‘pocket to ear’.

  • Land on forefeet, not on heels.
