Set Up:
12-16 players are set up in the attacking third of the field, with players starting at the cones. Player 1 begins the drill with a thru pass to the corner for Player 2. As Player 2 runs onto the ball, Player 1 makes an overlapping run into the center, and Player 3 starts his run to the far post. Player 2 crosses the ball from the corner, and Players 1 and 3 look for a first time finish on goal. During the drill, the play alternates to both flanks, and the players rotate to all four lines.
Coaching Points:
1. Hold the finishing run until the play develops. Arrive late as opposed to arriving early.
2. Any run towards the end line is the visual cue for a setback pass or a cross.
3. Hit a first time shot if you can, use two touches if you have to.
Progressions:
1. Add a defender inside the penalty area.
