Set Up:
Diagram 1: To begin the drill, Players 1 and 3 make passes from the end line at the same time. Player 2 runs from the opposite end line to finish the pass from Player 1 with a first time shot. Player 1 runs forward to receive the pass from Player 3 and then he goes to 1 v 1 against him to goal. After shooting, Player A waits in front of goal for the completion of the 1 v 1.
Diagram 2: After the 1 v 1 is completed, Player 4 makes a long pass from the end line to Player 2 to begin a 2 v 1 to goal. Player 1 is the 2nd attacker, and Player 3 is still the defender.
After two minutes, the players return to their lines and the drill re-starts in the opposite direction. Players 4 and 5 will attack, (Player 5 will hit the first time shot) and Player 6 will defend.
Coaching Points:
1 Shooting – Slow your run, adjust to the pass.
2 Finishing – Approach the ball at an angle so that you can shoot at all four corners of the goal.
3 Attacking 1 v 1 – Attack at speed, force a poor decision from the defender.
4 Attacking 2 v 1 – Draw the defender to the ball, set up the 2nd attacker for the shot.
Progressions:
1 Add a 2 v 2 finish to the end of the drill.
