Set Up:
12-16 players are set up on a split field, with the two teams lined up along the sideline. The three attackers start in the defending half, and the two defenders may not cross over the midfield line. When play advances past midfield, the third defender enters play from the end line. With a goal or a turnover, the ball is re-started by the goalkeeper, and the three defenders become the attackers. One of former attackers goes to the end line to become the third defender, and two new defenders enter the field in the other half. Play re-starts 3v2 from there.
Coaching Points:
1. Attack the first defender with the dribble and commit him before passing off.
2. Look for the third man with a thru pass that will beat both defenders.
3. Make a positive first touch towards the goal when finishing from a wide position.
Progressions:
1. The third defender comes on after the first pass.
