Set Up:
There are six players set up on the small grid, split into two teams of three and playing 3v1. During the drill, the attacking team must pass and receive from the corners of the grid, playing keep away versus one defender. The other two defenders are not involved in play. When the attackers lose possession, they send the one player into the middle and the opposing team moves to the corners. If the defender does not win the ball within 30 seconds, he switches out of the middle with a teammate.
Coaching Points:
1. If the defender steps into the passing lane, make a blind side run to the other corner.
2. Use ball and body feints as the defender closes in, and get him to go the wrong way.
3. Relieve pressure with one touch passing.
Progressions:
1. Use a smaller grid.
2 New defenders can switch into the grid on the fly.
