Warmup

  • Establish a box with 4 cones at the corners, and a diamond of cones in the middle 
  • Have players dribble towards the middle area, make a skill, turn, and dribble back to the next teammate in line
  • Every few minutes change the skill done at the middle

Progression #1

  • Same set up, same concept
  • All we're changing is now we're making a pass back to our teammate instead of dribbling
  • Focus on correcting passing technique while also emphasizing speed

Progression #2

  • Remove the area in the middle of the created box
  • Remove 3 balls from the drill, leaving only 1 to be used
  • Have players begin by passing to the teammate to the right of them, following their pass by changing lines
  • Emphasize pass placement and being on your toes to receive a pass
  • If players can handle a high speed, add a second ball to the drill

Progression #3

  • Make created box smaller by bringing the corner cones closer
  • Have only 4 players in the drill at once
  • Same set up and basic concept as last progression
  • Once players complete 5 passes around the box, Player 1 makes an overlapping run around Player 2, receiving a pass from Player 2
  • Player 1 dribbles down the line while other 3 players make their strategic run into the box for a crossing service from Player 1
