Organization:
Divide area in four zones of 20y x 6y. Four players start in each zone, but one player must step out when defending between two attacking groups. Attackers try to pass back and forth while the three defenders try to ‘keep the door closed’ and intercept passes. After the defenders win the ball, their fourth player steps back in and play moves in the other direction.
Game: Attackers score a point for each successful pass made out of their zone.
Progression: Make the field five yards wider and always keep four defenders on the field.
Coaching Points:
Defenders
-
Stay together and quickly shift with the ball to avoid and intercept the pass from the attackers.
-
Work hard.
Attackers
-
Pass the ball quickly to each other to create space between the defenders and the option to split the defenders with a pass.
-
Pass the ball with the correct speed to the correct foot,
-
Receive the ball with the furthest foot.
-
Drop off a little bit when the player next to you has the ball. This will make it easier to receive and pass the ball.
