Organization:
Set up lines on either side of the goal with two large cones about 5 yards apart. An additional large cone is set up ten yards further away from goal.
Description:
The attacker (Player 1), starts from the middle cone, closer to the Feeder. The defender (Player 2) starts at the first cone, closer to the end line. The Feeder begins play with a pass to Player 1. Player 2 leaves the first cone with the pass and chases Player 1 from behind. Player 1 touches the ball into the center of the field and continues running straight ahead to the last cone. Player 2 also runs around the last cone, trying to catch up to Player 1. After running around the last cone, Player 1 picks up the ball and goes to goal. Player 2 looks to pressure Player 1 from behind as Player 1 finishes against the GK. During the drill, play alternates between the two lines. The players go to both lines and take turns attacking and defending.
Focus Points:
-
Keep the dribble close, especially with the first touch
-
Shield the ball from the defender
-
